The main goal of product testing is the reduction of probability of finding flaws at the end of the development cycle, thus minimizing risks to the business.

Within this context, Eldorado Institute counts on a highly qualified team to do the managing, planning and execution of tests according to CMMI model and IEEE norms. Besides that, it leans on a broad experience in design, checking and validation of embedded software, applications and hardware to a wide range of segments.

Based on PMI model, test engineering services at Eldorado seek to grant product quality, being guided by ISO 9123 (Software Product Quality) norm including functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability and portability tests in its services, in order to guarantee clients’ satisfaction. Management and monitoring are still assisted by tools developed internally.

Acceptance tests: Aim to show the conformity to business and user requirements in the last phase of the development cycle, validating the product to delivery.

 

System tests: Encompass a series of different tests which primarily aim to completely proofread a system, verifying system requisites. In this phase, strategies employed include functional, performance, usability, regressive, exploratory tests, among others.

 

Integration tests: Phase where assembled or integrated software modules are tested. Interaction among modules are verified in order to detect errors in their interfaces.

ABECS

ABECS: Security tests to data capture terminals

The evolution of electronic channels used in the relationship among credit card flags and clients provides both a cost reduction in services and a greater comfort to users. However, a disruption observed in the spread of the usage of these channels is the insecurity noticed by clients who have been directly or indirectly affected by fraudulent actions.

In order to reduce the occurrence of information theft and frauds – and bearing in mind the increasing growth of the dependence on electronic devices in financial transactions, Eldorado Institute undertakes verification and validation tests in PINPAD and POS-type terminals according to PCI norms. In order to ensure the quality and reliability in the results, Eldorado Institute counts on a Test Engineering team, competent and experienced in physical security analysis, data cryptography and security, intrusion tests using conventional tools, tests in built-in software devices, battery tests, shock and vibration in a specialized laboratory and network communication tests.

Through equipment pre-testing with support and follow-up of the whole development cycle of the product, Eldorado Institute, currently nominated an accredited laboratory to the undertaking of terminal certification under ABECS, seeks to prepare the terminal to such certification.

Our labs count on equipment to physical, mechanical and climatic tests, being prepared to the undertaking of functional and non-functional tests, as well as other tests such as charge, stress, cryptography and key management, shock and resistance, usability, network security (GPRS, DUN, LAN, Wi-Fi, Serial, USB and Bluetooth), printing, battery, reading, data retrieval, processing, performance and inviolability.

ANATEL product ratification

The testing department (DTE, in Portuguese) is responsible for ratifying products under the terms of ANATEL. The technological progress is followed up with norms and processes that fit product certification launched in the market in a continued fashion, a challenge that demands constant research and development.

DTE counts on accredited laboratories according to ISO17025 norm by CGCRE/INMETRO and grants services to a wide range of clients, mainly radiocommunication device and equipment suppliers. DTE has been active with the several regulatory agencies in Brazil, in special INMETRO’s CT-08, Anatel’s CBC-08 and ABNT’s CB-03 and CB-026 committees, teaming up with the national effort to establish applicable norms and procedures to electro electronic equipment.

The laboratory’s infrastructure counts on up-to-date equipment and is organized in eight areas:

  • Tests of Lithium-Ion batteries, focusing on electric and security tests,
  • Electromagnetic compatibility tests – EMC, based on CISPR and IEC international norms, focusing on telecommunication, information technology and house appliance markets,
  • Electrical security tests to telecommunication products,
  • RF tests in wireless devices,
  • Acoustic tests, to the characterization of noise in devices in general, the laboratory being able to undertake tests in house appliances to the Selo Ruído (Noise Seal) program – and able to perform and verify the minimum electroacoustic requisites demanded to telephony, according to ANATEL
  • SAR tests, related to the specific absorption tax, measurements that verify the amount of energy human body can absorb being it radiated by wireless devices and are placed close to the user
  • Electric tests in analogical terminals, connected to commuted public telephony networks: those that characterize and grant the minimum requisites in landline telephony, fax devices, caller identification and other devices of this nature
  • Tests of energetic efficiency, in accordance to INMETRO norms to IT equipment, this range is recognized by EPA – US Energy Environmental Protection Agency, to the ENERGY STAR® program.

Laboratories are accredited under INMETRO to perform more than two hundred different tests in devices such as:

Mobile terminals (cell phones, smart phones, wireless modems and tablets) and transceivers (such as Bluetooth and wi-fi equipments) in GSM, GPRS, EDGE (2G), WCDMA, HSPA e HSPA+ (3G), and also LTE (4G) technologies, as well as 8DPSK and GFSK modulations, according to the IEC 802.11a/b/g/n/ac norm.

Mobile Communications Laboratory (approval)

Test engineering: Mobile Communications Laboratory

Following approaches of agility, reliability and personalization, the Mobile Communications laboratory of Eldorado Research Institute has worked for over four years within the Telecommunications market.

Using mobile telephony network simulators and interconnected servers, the Mobile Communications Laboratory allows the undertaking of functionality and interoperability tests in any type of electronic device capable of connecting to a mobile telephony network. These simulators can be used in any level or test phase, including approval pre-tests.

From cell phones to automotive trackers and credit card charging machines (PIN Entry Devices), the laboratory offers an agile controlled testing environment for being independent on the availability of a mobile phone network, thus enabling a faster analysis, execution and delivery of result.

Money saving is also an important benefit brought by the use of simulated environments for reducing costs derived from the usage of phone operator networks, trips and transfers to field tests, complying with our clients’ and partners’ business necessities.
