Law no. 8010, of 29/3/1990, addresses imports of goods intended to be used in scientific and technological research endeavors and provides other measures, in which they are exempted from Import Taxes and Taxes on Manufactured Products, and from the additional freight for the renewing of the merchant marine, the importation of machinery, equipment, devices and instruments, as well as their parts and spare pieces, accessories, raw materials and intermediate products, intended for the field of scientific and technology research.

The benefits of this Law are solely applied to imports carried by the National Council for the Scientific and Technology Development – CNPq, by scientists, researchers and non-profit organizations active in the fostering, coordination or in the execution of programs dedicated to scientific and technological research or education, properly accredited by the CNPq.

The legislation supports the import of machinery, equipment, devices and instruments, as well as their parts and spare pieces, accessories, raw materials and intermediate products, necessary for the execution of scientific and/or technological research projects.

These operations are exempt from import taxes (II) and taxes on manufactured products (IPI), from the additional freight for the renewing of the merchant marine (AFRMM) and are exempt from the similarity examination and controls conducted prior to customs clearance.

Taking into account the scope of ELDORADO in several segments of Information and Communication technologies, in accordance with the terms provided in Law 8010/99, this is an Institution properly accredited to benefit from this Law.
