About certification
In 1992, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched the ENERGY STAR® Program, a voluntary certification program designed to identify and promote products that seek better energy efficiency.
In August 2011, Eldorado sought recognition from the American agency and became one of the third party laboratories known to be competent to perform tests within the scope of computers and their respective power sources, whether internal or external.
Information on the extension of the American program can be found here.
The normative reference documents for the computer program that are recognized by the EPA and accredited by Cgcre are:
- ENERGY STAR® Program Requirements – Version 6.1 (Rev. March 2016)
- Test Method for Calculating the Energy Efficiency of Single-Voltage External Ac-Dc and Ac-Ac Power Supplies
- Generalized Test Protocol for Calculating the Energy Efficiency of Internal Ac-Dc and Dc-Dc Power Supplies
